MEET OUR PERSONAL TRAININERS

Angela Ross

Angela Ross

I am the Head Coach for all programs at Gorilla House Gym.  I have been leading group exercise classes and personal training since 2003.  I have numerous certifications to include Hyrox, CrossFit Level I, Weightlifting Level I, Powerlifting Club Coach Level, and AFAA Master Nutrition.  I have a Masters in Global History with a concentration on Ancient Middle East and a Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Sports with a concentration in Kinesiology.

I was an active duty Marine for 8 years and then served 11 years as a Civilian Marine working at the Pentagon as an Antiterrorism Officer.  I was in charge of Information and Threat Sharing, which is popularly known as “See Something, Say Something” and Risk Mitigation and Crisis Management.

I have a broad skill set and work with all clients from young athletes to person’s with injuries, degeneration, pregnant women and those who are disabled.  You can check out my classes and find me critiquing and hollering in the Barbell Club, or HIIT class.  Grab a class schedule or set-up a consultation for Personal Training or a Nutrition Consult with me! I look forward to helping you establish appropriate fitness and wellness goals, and meeting them with a balanced and sustainable approach.

Jeremy Claypoole

Jeremy Claypoole

Personal Trainer and Gym Manager

My name is Jeremy Claypoole. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science as well as my CrossFit level 1 certification. I am also a certified spin instructor and Silver and Fit certified. As a former collegiate athlete my main focus is strength and conditioning and sports performance training. With nearly 5 years of experience though I have dealt with all kinds of clients. Young, old, injured, healthy, underweight, overweight, and even amputees.

I have had my Silver and Fit certification the longest and for most of my training career. I teach a class of the fittest seniors this side of the Mississippi. Some of them are 75+ years old and can do full burpees and even power clean a barbell. I program the class to not only challenge them but keep them moving pain free for the rest of their lives.

I have trained all ages of athletes for all different sports. From MMA fighters to rugby players, I’ve seen them all. Different sports require different modes of training. For example, I have to coach an MMA fighter through a workout where they have to maintain a pace for 3-5 minutes so they make it through a round without being so tired they can’t continue on. Compared to a rugby player that has to push other big bodies around, so we focus more on strength training.

As a personal trainer I practice what I preach. I wouldn’t listen to a fat doctor telling me to lose weight. Would you? I try every workout before I put my clients or class through it so I know how to program it. For some people it may need mortification; for others it may be just right.

Patrick McCauley

Patrick McCauley

Personal Trainer

Hi my name is Patrick McCauley. I joined the Gorilla house family many years ago as a front desk employee. Throughout my time here, I have achieved my doctorate of physical therapy and am now a practicing PT in the acute field. Additionally, I became a certified personal trainer to help people learn correct movement patterns and to avoid injuries while exercising.

I have trained a variety of individuals with many levels of experience. I have trained people with no prior experience looking to learn a new skill in life to people with multiple years experience looking to correct and fine tune movements in their exercises.

I’m a big nerd when it comes to exercise. I studied it for 6 years in college because I’m driven by the why behind our exercise choices and movements. I want you to know why we select the exercises we do so that you grow towards your health goals while having an understanding of the steps we take to get there. So whether you’re new to the gym family or been here for years, reach out and see what we can do together!

I have a soft spot for kids and strive to set them up for success as they grow and mature to learn how to move their bodies and do it without hurting themselves. “It takes a village” is a saying I take literal. So parents a free to come and watch their kids workout or crush a quick workout of their own as well.

You can find me in class, on the floor, or at the desk most days. I put in the work before I push it out to my clients. I strive for great technique and consistency in all I do. The gym is no different.

Fred - Alex Frederick

Fred - Alex Frederick

Personal Trainer

Hello my name is Alex Frederick, also known as “Fred”. I joined Gorilla House 3.5 years ago as a member and was also the custodian, leading up to the front desk manager. I’m certified through HYROX 365 and also ACTION Personal Training.

Throughout my athletic career, I competed in many sports including: football, basketball, baseball, and track. Football was my main priority over the other sports that I was in. I fell in love with how attention to detail the sport was along with the discipline it had taught me. Those qualities led me to playing the sport I loved at the collegiate level and transitioned to everything I do in my daily lifestyle!

What inspired me to be a personal trainer was a back injury that happened in high school football during their weight training program — which ignited my passion to want to teach others the proper movements to weight lifting and excelling athletic performance.

To me, fitness is my life. It’s an amazing reward seeing someone crush goals that they never thought they could do. It’s okay if you are new to a gym setting and don’t know where to begin. Let me help and we can crush your goals together!

Connor Stayer

Personal Trainer

“Hey there! I’m Connor Stayer, a personal trainer here at Gorilla House Gym. My journey into fitness is deeply personal—I’ve lost a total of 110 pounds, and that transformation fuels my passion for helping others achieve their goals.

During my time in high school, I was heavily into sports like baseball and football. Those years taught me so much about athletic performance and the dedication it takes to excel;  After shedding the weight and experiencing firsthand how fitness can change your life, I knew I wanted to guide others on their own journeys.

The types of training I’m passionate about include, but are not limited to; CrossFit and functional fitness training, combining my athletic background with the latest techniques to create dynamic workouts. Whether you’re aiming to lose weight, gain strength, or improve your overall fitness, I’m here to provide personalized support tailored to your needs.

Beyond the gym, fitness is more than a job—it’s a lifestyle for me. I bring that passion into every session, aiming to inspire and motivate everyone around me. At Gorilla House Gym, I’m dedicated to helping you push your limits and achieve your best self.

Let’s work together to reach your fitness goals and make lasting changes that extend far beyond the gym floor!”

Matt Stopp

Tennis Instructor

My name is Matt, and I am the head tennis pro at Gorilla House Gym.  Tennis has been a huge part of my life, and I’ve had the pleasure of teaching it for over fifteen years.

As a junior player, I was ranked in the top 10 of USTA Middle States.  I played four years of Division II college tennis for the nationally ranked Assumption Greyhounds.  I graduated with a BA in mathematics and a minor in physics.  During my time at Assumption, I contributed to the tennis teams 117 match in conference winning streak.  I finished my college career with a 61-3 singles record, which was the highest winning percentage in the team’s history.  I was the northeast 10 male scholar athlete of the year as well as a CoSIDA/ESPN academic all-America in 2007.

I love tennis and can’t imagine my life without it.  Tennis is different from a lot of other sports in that it can be played by people of all ages and abilities.  I have coached all levels from nationally ranked juniors to absolute beginners.  I try to provide a customized coaching experience for all of my students and hope they enjoy a lifetime of fun on the court.
